Rugs are the part of interior we use day by day. We place it everywhere, because we appreciate comfort the most. Carpets of any size have always been a sign of wealth in past, but today we can see them everywhere. They are pretty available and can conform to any our fancy.
Mats can create tandem with your interior or play the main accents in the room. It is very convenient, because they are easy to replace when you want to change something or to put an emphasis on the lower side of your apartment.
A lot of people refrain from the choice of monochromatic rug because it is impractical, or two colors are boring and hard to combine. Today, I am kind of mythbuster, so let’s look closer to carpet solution.
Myth one: boring color scheme
Black and white gives you an opportunity to set an emphasis on whatever you want in your room. The emphasis can be the rug itself. Here both size and print matter. The colors would be divided depending on these two parameters. So choose the area you want to come forth. If it is floor, you can be certain that such carpet will stand out.
Modern designers offer extraordinary combinations with color accents. Black and white in combination with pops of bright pink, turquoise, yellow, lime, and orange-red are in trend nowadays. Details of these colors are fetched out on such background and bring a fresh and modern look into house.
Bright color solutions are especially advantageous for feminine designs. Mix of motley colors with neutrals gained appreciation in eclectic style. The rug may correlate with the wallpaper or wall-color, especially if the wall is of one tone and the rug has print. This way both décor elements would look well-marked and integral.
For more traditional approach, the classical combination of monochrome rug and golden details looks gorgeous. And it doesn’t mean that black, white and golden should be the only colors. You can use golden as a color for details and the wall and/or furniture can be of the other color. Just because the carpet is neutral you can play with details and setting.
Myth two: only stripes
Stripes have a good and bold look on the carpet, but it doesn’t mean that there are no other options.
Scandinavian influence in design brought us chevron stripe patterns and Swiss cross patterns that are widely used in modern interiors. However, you can choose so many patterns for your carpet like ikat, damask, classical chess, variation of animal print, and many others.
Also you should decide which color is dominant on the rug. Do you want a dramatic accent of black color, or a light space of white color?
Myth three: strict style
Combination of two classical colors sometimes creates the atmosphere that a bit lacks of saturation. But this mix provides the possibility of matching and conforming to any style that no other color pair can assure.
The one carpet can serve you for many years and still be in harmony with your new décor ideas. It goes well with different styles, depending on print.
Rustic and bohemian rugs usually go with fringe. Traditional carpets have floral or small stripes. Modern models can be seen with stripes, triangles, and eclectic style that might combine two types of different print but the same color. Black and white is valuable because it is universal in style, and in use. It is only up to your choice: to make it look strict or not.
Monochromatic colors are perfect match with wooden elements, chestnut and chocolate color furniture, as brown color shows its warm shades in such combination.
Myth four: impractical
Some models may be. But avoiding generalization we can find a lot of modern options that are cleaned easy, and don’t need thorough care.
For little rugs anti-slip underlay is available. Tufted rugs are the most popular nowadays, they are washable and long-term. Their durability is caused by cotton fiber as the first layer and baking material as the second one. Almost any stain can be removed with detergents, and any rug no matter of what color can face the stain.
Important aspect of choosing black and white rug is the quality of material. White color in poor woven or cotton fiber can gain a yellow tinge after a while, so choose carefully and specify the quality and type of material with consultant. In case your carpet will be durable, and you won’t have to pay twice.
Area rugs can be used all over the house. The profit is that you can remove it to another room if you want.
Black and white rugs look good in nurseries in spite of baby’s gender. The rug is neutral and helps to accentuate the other details and elements in the nursery.
